It is with great honor that we introduce Dr. Eric Ikeda FCOVD, DPNAP from Amplify EyeCare Long Beach, a highly respected optometrist in the fields of neuro optometric rehabilitation and developmental optometry.

Education

Dr. Eric Ikeda, FCOVD, DPNAP graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a degree in biochemistry and then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1986. Since then, he has made significant contributions to the field and has provided high quality eye care to his patients.

Contribution to the field of optometry

Dr. Eric Ikeda has always had a strong positive attitude towards the field of optometry. From the moment he started school, he knew that this was the profession he wanted to pursue. His passion for optometry is evident in the way he actively engages in efforts to spread the word and support the organizations that have supported him throughout his career. Giving back to these organizations is his way of expressing his gratitude and love for this important aspect of healthcare.

In 1992, Dr. Ikeda became a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Developmental Optometry (FCOVD) and received his Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) certification in 1996. He has also completed Levels I and II of the Clinical Skills Building Program of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and has served as the Past-President of both the San Gabriel Valley Optometric Society and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). In recognition of his service to NORA, he was awarded the “Founding Fathers Medal”.

Educational services

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ikeda is also involved in teaching and education. He has lectured both locally and nationally and serves as a consultant for various organizations and facilities. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of the Western University of Health Sciences, College of Optometry and has been awarded the Founder’s Award by the university.

Recipient of the 2022 Skeffington Legacy Award

Dr. Ikeda has also been honored with the 2022 Skeffington Legacy Award from the Optometric Extension Program Foundation. This prestigious award recognizes his exceptional leadership, valuable insights, and dedicated time and resources in guiding the organization through crucial turning points.
